The number of people with social media accounts is growing every day. For me, the social media platform with the most potential at the moment is Twitter. More and more people are joining the micro-blogging site to tweet about their daily life.

We live in a celebrity obsessed culture, obsessed to the point where celebrities have become their own brand. As a result of this, the use of social media has proven an effective way for a celebrity to market their product. Celebrities now tweet about their everyday life and new projects, and are therefore  a good example of how to promote your brand through Twitter.

Russell Brand promoted the release of his new book by posting an image on Twitter titled ‘Erotic Art’. The image displayed his new book covering his private parts whilst he ate a banana. The image was posted the day before the release and was be re-tweeted by thousands of following, which in turn created hype around the book.

@Lady Gaga and @JustinBieber

Considered the king and queen of Twitter, Lady Gaga (6.5 million followers) and Justin Bieber (5.4 million followers) not only successfully promote their brand through Twitter, but they also hold a powerful influence in promoting other Twitter users. The king and queen of Twitter boosted the online traffic to petition site, Twitition, when they used it to promote and tweet about civil rights campaigns they were holding. The site on average was getting around 10,000 visitors per day, until over a 48 hour period the number of visitors sky rocketed due to a link tweeted from Lady Gaga and Justin.

Using Twitter to promote your brand

As mentioned previously in the I-COM blog ‘Strange Brew’, the social media concept is included in all advertising campaigns, as it has become a part of everyday life. Thousands of users are accessing social media sites through mobile phones, mobile phone apps and broad band channels.

I-COM understand the beneficial aspects of how social media can increase your company's brand value. When used correctly, Twitter has the ability to successfully promote your brand and effectively communicate with your desired target audience.
