Being a football fan I've just gotta admit I found this funny when i saw it on our colleagues PushOn's blog - a search for Manchester City "MCFC honours list" gave this result:

"Being a football fan"? in 2007? when this joke was popular. on numerous football message boards.

well allow me to retort - have you actually tried it in 2009?

cos that doesn't actually happen. With or without the missing apostrophe. Come on, now whether that original lost page was a spoof or not I know not, but Google is surely clever enough to differentiate in 2009. *NB - anyone noticed that the Google logo is 'slightly' years out of date? Poor show sir or madam. Poor poor.

mcfc also stands for Molten-carbonate fuel cell. Google can work that out also.

Supporting City is character building. Blues singers didn't have easy lives, but they did write some decent tunes. Usually about sadness and regret. If you grow up today as a M*n Utd fan and get your weekly dose of victory in Trafford then what incentive is there to live an authentic life - when you can indulge in fantasies on omnipotence at the so-called 'Theatre of Dreams' - a second life where you win every week.

As Stuart Hall wonderfully Maine Road back in 2001: "That's why I call Maine Road the Theatre of Base Comedy. A sense of humour is essential. It's a roller-coaster ride." And isn't that much more exciting than the boredom of relentless success?

Besides, we don't have any choice: we're blue, we appreciate the irony, we develop a thick skin, we never wanted Ronaldinhino. We rent our ground from the council. The b of the bang is broke.

Tried it just now when I saw your comment and yep, it worked using the Google FF toolbar.

Hi Mark -

Appreciate your honesty on the irony of this post and I've no room to talk on honours (cos I'm actually a BWFCfan).

Personally I've given up on knocking MUFC - they're easily the best squad in the premiership - just by sheer depth of quality players in the squad and watching their footballing quality can sometimes be a (painful) pleasure.

I hope that the new found wealth of MCFC does bring a new challenge to the big four - just not sure whether Hughes has the clout as a mgr to do it.
