About Me:

Seeing as I have just completed my first week at I-COM I had better introduce myself - however after reading Laila's introduction blog I feel mine has a lot to live up too!

I'm Steph and the latest member to join the I-COM team. I have just graduated from MMU with a 1st Class BA Hons in Marketing Management.

I discovered the world of SEO and online marketing during my final year at university. I soon realised that this was the area of marketing I wanted to work in! I enjoyed the idea of an environment that is always evolving and is continuing to expand within society.

As the academic year quickly came to an end it felt like every graduate was trying to get a job in the SEO and online marketing industry. But as disheartening as rejection can be, I believe in the saying 'If at first you don't succeed try try again'.

My first week at I-COM:

After being lucky enough to be offered a job and join the I-COM team. I feel that I have already learnt so much over the past week, even though I have a long way to go, this is thanks to the help and guidance from the SEO team.

During my first week at I-COM I have learnt:

•    Placing clients within Google and Yahoo local listings.
•    Writing titles and meta descriptions.
•    How to successfully create meta tags.
•    Writing and submitting articles and content for clients.
•    How to apply and analyse the data in Google Analytics.

Everyone in the I-COM team is very friendly, helpful and relaxed which creates not only a good atmosphere for staff but also for the clients. I look forward to working as an SEO apprentice and eventually developing my role within I-COM.

Hey Steph, it's great to have you here at I-COM too. We'll make a Manchester SEO guru out of you yet!

I'm glad for you!

Looking for a way out from my current employment I've also done some SEO work for a friend of mine who runs a web design business . He gives me projects, like the one for Leo's Fish Bar and others.

I've also freelanced for Google itself in the past and know that there are many ways of optimising your presence on the web, but also many pitfalls.

Hope you continue learning and enjoy your new career!
